In the nine years since the Law Society of Upper Canada published its Residential Real Estate Transactions Practice Guidelines, there have been approximately 5600 claims in the real estate area of practice reported to LAWPRO. Time after time LAWPRO sees claims that could have been avoided if lawyers had incorporated in their practices the measures described in the Guidelines. Why don’t more lawyers follow the practices set out in the Guidelines?
