Elevate Your Fraud Prevention Strategy: Embrace ClientConnect™ Throughout the Year

Did you know that March is Fraud Prevention Month? For many Canadian Real Estate Lawyers in 2024, this annual-awareness campaign feels more relevant than ever. After all, the issue of title fraud was all over the news last year.

Last year saw a surge in instances where bad actors would falsely impersonate property owners to sell or re-mortgage homes they didn’t own, then take off with the funds. It's a serious concern in the industry and one that has garnered significant attention.

At LawyerDoneDeal Corp. (LDD), we are committed to combating fraud in real estate transactions. In fact, you’ll read more about our efforts later this month.

The original innovators in online Canadian Real Estate law, LDD has always partnered with respectable professionals to counter title fraud. That’s everyone from provincial bar associations to title insurance providers. We’ve designed and built our own client ID verification feature inside ClientConnect.

LDD protects you and your clients with ClientConnect

Protect your practice and clients against potential fraud more efficiently by confirming client ID online, securely. Your responsibility to confirm client ID is provincially required. Our ID verification feature in ClientConnect utilizes state-of-the-art technology to authenticate client photo identification.

ClientConnect is already successfully up and running in Ontario, and being used to verify client identities.

Indeed, this product’s authentication technology is compliant not only with the Law Society of Ontario but also the Law Society of Britsh Columbia, and Nova Scotia Barristers' Society. And we’re working closely to introduce ClientConnect in other provinces soon.

Note: Please note that until Friday, March 8, 2024, the Law Society of British Columbia (LSBC) required verifying an individual client’s identity using government-issued photo ID method in-person. ClientConnect in BC will be released without client ID verification tomorrow (Tuesday, March 12), but LDD will work as quickly as possible to release the client ID verification feature in BC.

Many lawyers like you have also been impressed with what ClientConnect can do beyond safely confirming client identity

With a simple process, law firms and notaries can:

  • Sign and submit written retainer agreements

  • Securely exchange important documents with clients

  • Host virtual meetings securely, restricting who has access

  • Enable intake templates for quick data collection, and sync the collected data with RealtiWeb files

Learn about ClientConnect, coming to other provinces soon
