Saying Goodbye to Internet Explorer

As you may have heard, Microsoft has made the decision to cease the development and support of the Internet Explorer (IE) browser for certain operating systems effective June 15, 2022. The Windows 10 operating system that was specifically affected was Windows 10 Semi Annual Channel.

Information on the Lifecycle of Internet Explorer is available on the Microsoft website.

Additionally, some users may experience Microsoft Edge automatically opening instead of Internet Explorer. If you’re already working in Edge, then you’re all set!

For those who have not made the switch, we’d like to take this opportunity to explain how to run the LDD Utility, in order to have Microsoft Edge function for your LDD applications.

  1. Download and install this registry file.

  2. Ctrl-click on the link below, click on Run and follow on-screen instructions and accept everything.
    Adjust Browser Settings

  3. Ctrl-click  and click on Save for the below link. It is important to only Save it now - DO NOT RUN yet!

  4. Close all of your open Browsers. This step is a MUST!

  5. Find your downloaded LDDonlineUtility64.exe and run it now. It’s likely in your Downloads folder unless you placed it elsewhere. Follow all instructions.
If at any point it asks Modify or Repair – choose Repair
    .

  6. Open Edge and login to your program as you usually do.

Can’t find Microsoft Edge?

On the Windows 10 and 11 operating system, every computer comes equipped with Microsoft Edge already pre-installed. Edge may already be available on your Taskbar or your Desktop.

In the event that it is not, to open Microsoft Edge please do the following:

  1. Open the Start Menu by clicking on the Windows icon (four-squared symbol) in the bottom corner of your screen. Begin typing ‘Microsoft Edge’ until the web browser appears in the search. You should see ‘Microsoft recommended browser’ below the correct result.

  2. Click on the search result. This will open Microsoft Edge.

  3. To easily access Microsoft Edge in the future: after opening the browser, right-click on the Microsoft Edge icon in the taskbar and select ‘Pin to taskbar’ in the options that appear. This will make it so you only need to click on the icon in order to open Microsoft Edge again.

After the LDD Online Utilities are installed, you can resume using LDD’s online platform as you normally do in Edge.
